Mr. Cao Guangshu, Director of Suzhou Administrative Bureau of Garden and Landscaping, graduated with a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Nanjing Forestry University in July 1995. He has successively served as Manager of the Technical Department of China International Landscape Architecture Construction Company, Suzhou Branch, Deputy General Manager of Suzhou Landscape Architecture Development Company, Director of Planning Department of Suzhou Administrative Bureau of Garden and Landscaping, Director of Suzhou Shihu Scenic Area Management Office, Deputy Director of Suzhou Administrative Bureau of Garden and Landscaping, and Deputy Director of Suzhou Urban Management Bureau.
During this period, he led the preparation and implementation of more than 20 planning projects of Suzhou, including the city’s overall development plan for landscaping (forestry), the master plan and detailed rules for the Taihu Lake Lake Scenic Area, urban green space and forest ecosystem planning, and the protection and restoration plan for Suzhou classical gardens, was responsible for or participated in more than 60 projects, including the restoration of heritage gardens, construction of overseas Suzhou gardens, and exhibition gardens in China Garden Expositions, and published more than 10 academic papers. Currently, he is promoting the high-level construction of Suzhou as a “garden city”, “park city”, and “international wetland city”.
